Rev. Dwight graduated from Harvard in 1687 and in 1690 at age 19 was installed as the first pastor of New Roxbury (a.k.a. Woodstock), Mass., since 1749 now the Town of Woodstock, Conn. For the next 36 years Rev. Dwight was pastor of the First Cong. Church of Woodstock until released in 1726 due to discord between he and his parishioners. He then left Woodstock to reside with his son-in-law Rev. Maston Cabot of nearby Thompson, Conn.
