According to the 1870 census she was a widow, 55 years old, born Ireland, and lived in Hudson, New York with her son John. In 1875 she was a widow, 60 years old, born Ireland, and lived in Hudson with her son. The 1880 census states she was a widow, 60 years old, born Ireland, and lived on Wheaton street in Omaha, Nebraska with her daughter Mary Van Valkenburg and the latter's children. In 1885 she was a widow, 74 years old, born Ireland, and lived on Wheaton street with her granddaughter Liz VanValkenberg (age 18 years, born New York).

The 1870, 1880, and 1885 census records call her Nancy. The 1896 Omaha city directory calls her Nancy A. Carr, widow of Arthur. At that time she lived at 963 N 25th with her granddaughter Elizabeth Van Valkenbergh.

Her burial card states she died March 16, 1898, age 90 years, and was buried March 18.

CARR – Mrs. Anna Carr, age 90 years, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Stephen Rice, 963 N. Twenty-fifth street. Funeral Friday, March 18, at 8:30 a.m. to St. John's church; services at 9 a.m.
