HEADLAND. . .Judy Hodges Armstrong, a resident of Headland, died late Saturday night, August 3, 2013, in a Dothan hospital. She was 76.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 6, 2013, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center, Inc., 110 Harmony Lane, Dothan, AL. 36303.

Mrs. Armstrong was born and reared in Henry County, near Headland, daughter of the late Sterling Glenwood Hodges and Ollie B. Hicks Hodges. She was formerly employed as a journalist with the Headland Observer, Dothan Progress, and Dothan Eagle. Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland and was the first woman elected to the Headland City Council. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Armstrong, and a sister, Glenda Hodges Morris.

Surviving relatives include four daughters, Donna Stephenson (Bill), Dothan; Elizabeth Parmentier, Dothan; Suzanne McClendon (John), Headland; and Shannon Leigh Ciaravella (Ron), Sarasota, FL; a son, Geoffrey Stephens, Dothan; a sister, Wanda Hodges Bird, Headland; a brother, William Earl Hodges (Bettie), Savannah, GA; a brother-in-law, Jack Morris, Dothan; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Dr. Jack Morris, Ross Morris, John McClendon, Bill Stephenson, Greg Hicks, and Keith Hicks.
