ELKINS, DWAYNE — Of Grass Lake, formerly of Chelsea, age 37, passed away June 29, 2007 at Chelsea Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Dwayne is survived by his sons, Shawn and Chase Elkins and their mother, Chris Elkins; father and mother, Bob and Shirley Elkins of Chelsea; sister, Lynn (Mark) Hanson of Milan; brother, Chuck (Betsy) Elkins of Grass Lake; sister, Patty (LaVern) Corser of Jackson; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Dwayne's passion in life was spending time with his sons. He enjoyed watching them in their sports activities, but most of all enjoyed watching them race motorcross. Dwayne had an appreciation for nature and the outdoors. He found pleasure in hunting and his travels out west. He was employed at Chelsea Milling for many years. Visitation will be Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A celebration of Dwayne's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the Federated Church of Grass Lake, with Reverend Chuck Mc-Neil officiating. Interment Maple Grove (West) Cemetery, Grass Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dwayne Elkin's Family Fund, c/o Chelsea State Bank.
