Sarah was first born child of Henry and Jane (Smith) Clark. Sarah was born in Florida where her parents were married.

1880 Census tells us that at age 7, Sarah and her family had moved to Georgia.

We have a marriage record for Sarah. She was referred to as "Sallie", and was married to William Ira Cannon on September 27, 1894. Sarah was 21 years old.

On 1900 Census they are living in Thomas Co, Georgia and have a 5 year old daughter named Mary Jane. That same year on August 30, 1900, Sarah gave birth to another daughter and named her Gladys.

In 1910 the family is living on a farm in Thomas County.

On 1920 Census Sarah's husband William, is Marshall of Pavo, Georgia in Brooks County. On 1940 Census he is listed as a fisherman, still living in Brooks County. Sarah's beloved husband, William died in 1948 and she remained a widow until her death on May 9, 1957. She was 83 years old.

Sarah's death records say she died in Winston Salem, North Carolina of congestive heart failure.

Wall Funeral Home of Winston Salem took care of the arrangements and Sarah was laid to rest in Brooks County, Georgia where her husband William died 9 years earlier.

Gravesite Details

There is only one Lebanon Cemetery. It is located on the Brooks County side of Pavo, Georgia. The county line splits the tiny town in half.
