Joyce Marie Parrish

Joyce Marie Burnett Parrish, 67, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away at home into the loving arms of our Lord on March 17, 2013. Joyce was born on March 26, 1945, in Sweetwater, TX to Mancell C. and Ruby M. (Weaver) Burnett.

A devoted Christian, Joyce faithfully served her community for many years. She was a long-time member of the Salvation Army Board, Girl Scout leader, and was a Foster Grandparent working with many children in the local schools. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, collecting cookbooks, her cat Millie as well as entertaining family and friends. She was a lifelong learner and enjoyed taking college classes.

She was a proud Mustang from Sweetwater High School and looked forward to attending her 50th class reunion this coming summer.

She worked in various hospitals and nursing homes throughout the area as a coder, transcriptionist and Medical Records Director.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Mary Jane Jones of Arkansas, a sister Sharon Faye Herrington of California; a brother Robert Newman of TX and her loving Aunt Laura Burnett Gilbert of TX who raised her and affectionately considered her another daughter.

She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her children, David Anthony Parrish of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Kenneth and Stephanie Suzanne (Parrish) Karstoft of Casper and Leo Rawlins, WY; her sister Betty Jo Kelly of TX, her brother Eugene Burnett of Arkansas, her brother Greg Felts of TX, Leonard and Sherry Burnett of Oklahoma, Jeff and Myra Woodell of TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Private family services have been held. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the care of Cheyenne Memorial Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.cheyennememorialchapel.com or mailed to the family.

She will be incredibly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce's name to the Carbon Cemetery Association Cemetery and signage project c/o of the Hanna Basin Museum, PO Box 252, Hanna, WY 82327 or the Natrona County Library Friends of the Library, Mills Branch for new computers, education, craft, and family fun night opportunities for children and families in the community, 717 5th Street, Mills, Wyoming.
