Pauline Lucille, daughter of James and Myrtle (Young) McGuire, was born November 10, 1919, at Norwalk, Iowa. She grew up at Norwalk and graduated from Norwalk High School. Pauline then worked at Montgomery Wards in Atlantic and as a candy striper at a hospital in Des Moines.

On February 25, 1951, Pauline was united in marriage with Arnold John Brauckman. Four children were born to this union. Pauline and Arnold first made their home on his grandparents' farm near Dedham. They farmed and operated Arnold's livestock dealer business. In 1968 they moved to a farm west of Coon Rapids and built a new home. Following Arnold's death on January 7, 1976, Pauline stayed on the farm and worked various jobs, most notably as a cook and salad maker at the Aztec. In February of 2001, she became a resident of Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids.

Pauline enjoyed playing cards and was a good cook, especially her apple pie, chicken noodle soup, potato salad and green beans. For many years, she visited the sick and those who could not get out. She enjoyed socializing wherever people gathered, and coffee was served. While in the nursing home she enjoyed people watching from her favorite armchair in the lounge, as well as razzing the staff.

On Tuesday, February 5, 2008, Pauline died at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. She was 88 years of age.

Pauline is survived by two daughters Judy Brauckman of Olathe, Kansas, and Linda Golay and husband Brad of Glidden; three grandchildren Shannon Gardner and husband Todd of Leavenworth, Kansas, Cole and Trenton Golay of Glidden, four great-grandchildren Justin, Devin, Cheyenne and Ashlyn Gardner of Leavenworth, Kansas; a brother Morrill McGuire and wife Bonnie of Crescent City, California, a sister Helen Hutchinson of Hornet, California, a brother-in-law Earl "Beanie" Brauckman of Dallas Center; and sisters-in-law: Evelyn Brauckman of Perry and Mary Brauckman of Omaha, Nebraska.
