Memorial services for Mr. Billy Joe Lester of Groveton will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Oaklawn Baptist Church with Bro. Lester McAdams officiating. Mr. Lester was born on February 2, 1930 in the Helmic Community near Apple Springs, Texas in Trinity County, Texas. He passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in Lufkin, Texas at the age of 83. He was a member of the Will N. Kidd No. 424 RAM Masonic Lodge of Houston, The San Jacinto No. 347 R & S M. Lodge, and the Eastern Star Lodge #284 AF & AM of Groveton, Texas. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. He was employed by Houston Belt and Terminal Railroad for 46 years in Houston, Texas and attended Milby High School in Houston, Texas. He served in the US Army during the Korean War in 1951-1953 where he was stationed in Alaska. He is preceded in death by his sisters: Clellion Lester Bogan and Lyndel Lester Rollins and a brother Frederick (Dudley) Lester. He is survived by his wife Donna Lea Hollis Lester of Groveton, Texas; daughters and sons in law, Karen Renee Lester Munroe and husband Thomas (Chip) Munroe, III of San Antonio, Texas and Kathy Sue Lester Huffman and husband Russell Craig Huffman of Fort Worth, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Thomas (Will) Munroe, IV and wife Nicole Horton Monroe, Knealy Renee Huffman, Richard (Brick) Alexander Munroe and Ethan Hollis Huffman; one great granddaughter, Eisley Elizabeth-Rose Munroe and many more friends and relatives survive. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Groveton Funeral Home.
