Lawrence A. "Larry" Pyka, 88, of Austin, passed away Monday, April 25, 2005.

He was born April 15, 1917 in Globe, Arizona and moved to Frederickburg at age two.

Mr. Pyka was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps, 906th Air Engineer Squadron during the European Theatre, spending 27 months overseas. He returned to Frederickburg and worked for Stehling Brothers before starting work for the USDA Soil Conservation Service in 1949. After retiring in 1982, he became a ticket agent for UT Special Events and was an avid UT baseball fan.

Hope, as called by his grandchildren, loved God, his family and enjoyed traveling. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., and rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m.,, Friday, April 29, 2005 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Burial will follow with full military honors at Assumption Cemetery.

A special thanks to Regency Village for their loving care during Larry's last years. To all who sent Larry cards that he enjoyed so much, we say thank you.
