Celebration of Life Service for former Tillman County resident Marion James “Buddy” Wolfe age 96, of Oklahoma City will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Dan Killebrew officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Davidson Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Wolfe passed away June 27, 2016, in Oklahoma City.
Buddy Wolfe was born in Davidson, Oklahoma on August 20, 1919, to Charles Howard and Winona (Rogers) Wolfe. He was the youngest of five children. After graduating from Davidson High School, Buddy attended Frederick Junior College, then Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, he enlisted in the United States Army on January 14, 1942. He served in the 128th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Red Arrow Division for three years, spending twenty-six months in the Pacific theater of the war as a marksman in the Philippines, New Guinea, and Australia. He earned several honors, including a Presidential Unit Citation, a Distinguished Unit Badge, a Philippine Liberation Medal, as Asiatic Service Ribbon, and four Bronze Service Stars. He received an honorable discharge from the Army on May 22, 1945 and resumed farming. He later served on the Davidson Co-op Board, the Davidson School Board, and as a director of the First State Bank of Davidson.
He was united in marriage to Anna Jean Boyd on July 12, 1947. They were blessed with two sons: Jim Charles Wolfe and Wayne Boyd Wolfe. Buddy was a man of character, integrity, and kindness, a much loved and respected husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his son, Jim Wolfe and wife Cindy of Oklahoma City; grandson Mike Wolfe and wife Meredith of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren James and Georgia Wolfe; and a host of other beloved family members and friends.
Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his son, Wayne; his parents; his four siblings; Keith Wolfe, Sr.; Kenneth Wolfe, Burnal Wolfe, and Blanche Wolfe French; and many other family members and valued friends.
