Anita V. Alterio, 76, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, August 3, 2013, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 1, 1936, in Hendersonville, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Anna Marie Refosco Teatino.
Mrs. Alterio was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Parish in Canonsburg.
During her youth, she attended Cecil High School.
Baking and traveling with family brought her great joy, and she loved spending time around the holidays with her family and friends.
She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates baseball fan.
Viewing Mass and praying the rosary daily in her home brought her great peace.
She always loved people and enjoyed her many friendships throughout her life.
Sarris Candies in Canonsburg employed her as a candy maker for nine years until her retirement.
On September 1, 1958, in St. Patrick Church, she married her loving husband of 54 years, Ralph A. Alterio, who survives.
Surviving are two daughters, Marianne (Darryl) Wargo of Canonsburg and Monica (Robert) Durbin of Canonsburg.
Also surviving are two brothers, Vincent (Joanne) Teatino of Imperial and Steve (Judy) Tetino of Canonsburg, and two sisters-in-law, Stephanie Teatino of Hendersonville and Mary Ann Barbosky of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Connie Teatino and Theresa Porter, and two brothers, Christopher in infancy and Jack Teatino; and a brother-in-law, Roy Porter, are deceased.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 194 East College Street, Canonsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
