Obituary from MARION SENTINEL, November 17, 1910
Emmet I Kemp, the youngest child of Elisha and Louisa Kemp, was born at the old homestead north of Marion on February 25, 1858, and died Nov. 11, 1910,on the farm where he was born and grew to manhood. He lived on the farm all his life, except for nine years, while attending the Marion high school. He has always had the respect of his neighbors, and all that knew him, being an honest, assuming man.
During the fall of 1877, he confessed his faith in Christ and was baptized by Elder H.G. Kerr, and has been a faithful member of the Christian church in Marin since then. He has served this congregation as an elder since the beginning of the year 1888.
On December 6th, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Ida M. Johnson. To this union there were born two sons, Warren and Ervin, and two daughters, Louisa and Clarissa. To his family he was always a loving and faithful husband and father.
After a period of failing health, he passed away suddenly, at his home, last Friday morning, after a life of 52 years, 8 months and 16 days. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and four children before mentioned; a brother, X.N. Kemp, and sister, Mrs. Willie Lillie, besides other relatives and friends.
The funeral, which was held Sunday afternoon at his late home, was largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. L.M. Starr and interment took place in Oak Shade cemetery.
