Janice Ruth Bryan went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2012. She passed away at Altus, Oklahoma, at the age of 67 years, four months, and 12 days.
She was born on September 17, 1944, to James Quincy and Mary Ann (Howerton) Shewey, in Fairview, Oklahoma. She married Jerry D. Bryan on August 2, 1961, in Enid, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Janice has lived in numerous places all over the United States; however, she considered Tipton her home. She lived a large amount of her life on the Bryan Property that they just called "the farm". When people visited at "the farm" it was a very fun environment, you never knew what was going to happen at "the farm". Being on the farm was a unique adventure and was always exciting, never a dull moment. Janice was known for a lot of things, but the one thing that she was strongly known for was her cooking and the ability that she had in the kitchen. Just ask her grandson, granddaughter, and her great nephews Tate and Pryce will tell you what a wonderful jelly maker she was. She enjoyed working and playing in the clay with her husband Jerry. She made great and wonderful masterpieces in pottery alongside Jerry. She also enjoyed going to WOSC and getting involved with the kids and tried to make a difference in their lives. She was happy being a wife, mother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed having the luxury of working and living side by side with her husband Jerry. They had an ability to be with each other 24/7 and still felt there wasn't enough time in the day to be together. They enjoyed owning businesses (Otter Creek Pottery and The Store) in Tipton. A lot of people from all over the world met Janice and enjoyed listening to her and her stories.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James Quincy and Mary Ann Shewey; and one brother: J. C. Graham, of Fairview, OK.
She is survived by her husband: Jerry Bryan, of the home; two sisters: Mary Ann Lynch, of Fairview, OK, and Kelta Wheat, of San Diego, CA; a son: Bruce Bryan, of Anchorage, AK; a daughter: Mundy (Bryan) Ross-Fernandez, of Carrollton, TX; and two grandchildren: Alyssa Bryan, of Anchorage, AK, and Dalton Quincy Ross, of Carrollton, TX.
