Largely attended by residents of the district, the funeral of Mrs. Ann Hogan, a former resident of Cantley, Quebec and one of the best known residents of the district, was held from the residence of her son, Frank Hogan, Cantley to St. Elisabeth's Church yesterday morning. Requiem high mass was chanted by Rev. Father J.O. Dowd of Old Chelsea.
A full choir in charge of James Birt was in attendance while Miss Violet Fleming presided at the organ. Interment was made at the church cemetery.
The late Mrs. Hogan, who died last Tuesday, in her 86th year, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William (Jn Ann Hynes) Smith, pioneer residents of Waltham, Quebec. She resided there until she married some 40 years ago, when she took up residence at Cantley, Quebec. For the last couple of years, she has lived in Old Chelsea. Her husband predeceased her 16 years ago.
The chief mourners were two sons, Frank of Cantley and William of Detroit, one daughter, Miss Mary of Old Chelsea, one stepson, Martin of Renfrew, one sister, Mrs. Michael Cushing and one brother, Vernon Smith.
