She was a native of Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Samuel and Clara Mae Caldwell, wife of the late John Harvey Auten, sister of the late Carl V. "Bud" and Samuel Caldwell Jr., member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, attended Cornelius High School, in food service before retirement.
