MATTIE A. HOWARD
Mrs. Mattie A. Howard died July 8, 1954, at the residence of her son Ray J. Howard, 27995 Halsted Road, following an illness of nine years.
She was born in Okemos, Michigan, March 7, 1876, the daughter of Walter and Fannie (Tuttle) Wilkinson, and when three years old was adopted by Edgar S. and Jennie (Tuttle) Dart.
She was united in marriage to Lewis N. Howard, January 25, 1895, and moved to the Howard Homestead at Twelve Mile and Halstead Roads in 1896, residing 58 years in the same community. Mr Howard preceeded her in death February 2, 1939.
Mrs. Howard leaves three sons and one daughter, Floyd W., Ray J., and Lucy A. of Farmington; Edgar S. of Ft. Pierce, Flordia; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank W. Wilkinson, of Ann Arbor. One daughter, Mrs. Luella Sheldon of East Lansing died in 1951.
Funeral services were held from the Spencer J. Heeney Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Sunday with Dr. H.H. Savage of the First Baptist Church, Pontiac, officiating.
Interment was in West Farmington Cemetery.
