Raymond was born in Beattie, Kansas on August 13, 1937, son of Joseph and Josephine Enneking Osterhaus and grew up in Marshall and Nemaha Counties. He graduated from Wetmore High School in 1956 and served in the United States Army from 1960-1962.
Upon returning to Kansas he met and married Nancy Lynn Dreyer on January 18, 1964.
He was employed doing concrete work for many years before beginning work at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He retired in 1999 after 31 years of service. He was active with little league baseball and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nancy, daughter Dawna Dee Osterhaus, grandson, Jaryd Logan Osterhaus, sister Mary Whittmer and brothers Joe and Kenneth Osterhaus.
He is survived by daughter, Dana (Tony) Colombo, Topeka; sons, Darin (Chari) Osterhaus, Topeka; and Dustin (Heather) Osterhaus, Basehor; grandchildren, Michael (Whitney Eastwood) and Ryan Colombo, Dylan and Shyanne Osterhaus, Topeka; Madi and Magi Osterhaus, Basehor; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Colombo, Topeka. He is also survived by his brothers: Clarence (MaryAnn) and Vincent Osterhaus, Topeka, Melvin (Ellen) Osterhaus, Wetmore; sisters Rose McMurphy, Topeka and Gladys (Don) Ennis, Rockford, IL; many nieces and nephews, and his dog, Mr. Wiggles of Basehor.
Raymond was cremated. Graveside services will be on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 801 SW Westchester Rd, Topeka.
