Sgt. Joshua T. Crippin, 27, of Rantoul died at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 3, 2005) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, as a result of a motorcycle accident.

He was born July 6, 1978 in Danville, a son of Rick and Gloria Mockbee Crippin.

He is survived by his parents; a brother, Jake (Heather) Crippin; a sister, Jennifer Grabhorn; two nephews; paternal grandparents, Thomas (Jackie) Crippin and his girlfriend, Melissa Croy.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Mary E. Mockbee.

He joined the Illinois Army National Guard in June of 1998 after he was discharged in December 2005. He planned on pursuing a career in law enforcement and continuing on to become a conservation officer. While in the military he completed the courses of Certified Drill Instructor, Primary Leadership Development Course, and Practical Law Enforcement Training. He proudly served his "COUNTRY" in Operation Noble Eagle in Bloomington from October 2001 to May 2002, where he was activated for Airport Security and Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2003 to July 2004 as a military police officer. He was currently acting as squad leader 933rd Military Police Company 2nd Platoon, 1st Squad with the Illinois Army National Guard.
