In 1929, Charles Capp Ivy worked for Dealers Lumber Mill in Canton, Madison County, Mississippi as forman of their steam generating plant. One day in mid-February 1929, one of the boilers exploded, hurling an inspection port cover from the end of the boiler, across the boiler room. It hit Capp in the chest causing extensive internal injuries. After two weeks of efforts to save his life, he finally succumbed to his injuries on February 28, 1929. He is buried in Canton Cemetery in Canton, Mississippi.
