George Halstead was born July 25, 1860 in Greenwich, Ohio, the last of eight children of Willard Knowles and Jane Hopkins. He had siblings William, Albert, Frank, Jane, Julia, Dora, Armon and two half sisters Mary & Lucy.
George was 31 when he married Florence Townsend on Sep. 7, 1891 in Greenwich and they had two sons listed abpve. He was a merchant in the hardware business.
George was living at 4 S. Kniffin St. when he died on March 29, 1948 at the age of 87 from cardiac failure and is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Lot 237 along with his wife Florence (who died in 1917) and son Earl. George never remarried.

HOPKINS, George H 49, born in Ohio, merchant in a hardware store; wife Florence 36, married 19 yrs, 2 living children, born in Ohio; sons Harold 16 and Earl 10, both born in Ohio, were living at 955 Orange Grove Ave. in Panoma City, CA.
3. 1920 CENSUS: Huron Co, OH 1/19/1920
HOPKINS, George, 26, born in Ohio, a hardware salesman, wife Edna, 30, born in Ohio, Junior (George H), 5 born in Texas, Ruth E, 3, and Margery, one month, were living on Constant St. in Greenwich. Also living with them was his father George, 59, a retail merchant in a hardware store and brother Earl, 30 a salesman in a hardware store.

HOPKINS, George H, 69, widowed, born in Ohio, a merchant in a hardware store, son George H, 2nd, 36, born in Ohio, a clerk in a hardware store, his wife Edna, 40, children George H, 3rd, born in Texas, 15, Ruth E, 14, and Margery L, 10. Living down the street from the family was his nephew Charles Flory's (deceased) wife Augusta Flory, 54) and son Ronald, 19.

HOPKINS, Harold, 46, a merchant in a hardware store, wife Edna 50, children Ruth, 23, Margery 21, and Harold's father George, 79, all born in Ohio, were living at 4 Kniffin St, in Greenwich, OH.

GEORGE HALSTEAD HOPKINS, residing at 4 S. Kniffin, Greenwich for 33 years when he passed away at home on March 19, 1948 at 10 p.m. from cardiac failure at age 87 years, 7 months, 23 days. Interment on March 22, 1948 in Greenwich, OH.
Informant was son, George Harold of Greenwich stating his father was born in Huron County, OH on July 25, 1860. He was a merchant in a hardware store. His father was Willard Hopkins, born in New Jersey and his mother was Jane Ursula Easterly, born in New York.
