I know very little about my grandmother Jeanette Swenson other than the fact that she was from Pecatonica, Illinois and was Swedish. My grandfather while courting her rode the inter-urban rail line to her home in Pecatonica, Ill. from his home in Rockford. She married Swen R. Swenson in 1905, and bore him 5 children. Mildred, John, Dorothy, Marie, and Carl. She died a very tragic death. She was attempting to clean the kitchen stove with a very flamable cleaning material which ignited. She ran outside with flames covering her hair and body. Neighbors rolled her in a blanket. She died about 5 hours later at the hospital. My grandfather stated that this was one of the worst days of his entire life.
