Bessie Lorraine Sallee

SALLEE, Bessie Lorraine – She was born January 23, 1923 in Deer Trail, Colorado, the daughter of Walter L. and Mary Estelle (Pratt) Whelden. She passed away August 12, 1997 at her St. Helens Home. Lorraine moved to Scapoose in 1994. Lorraine was the editor for the Roseburg News-Review. She and her husband operated the North Lake Resort and Marina in Lakeside, Oregon from 1972 to 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Caleo Clarence Sallee on April 9, 1995.

Survivors include her sons, Caleo Clayton Sallee of St. Helens, Ralph L. Sallee of Emmett,Idaho; daughter, Rhonda L. Whaley of Coos Bay, Oregon; brothers, Ernest Tanner of San Jose, California, Earl Whelden of Astoria, and Don Whelden of Oregon City, Oregon; sisters, Alleyne Gregory of Northglenn, Colorado, Virginia Shultz of Oregon City, Oregon and Lora Fischer of Oregon City, Oregon and Lora Fischer of Oregon City, Oregon; numerous grand and greatgrand children. There will be a memorial gathering, Friday, August 15, 1997 at 3 p.m. at Caleo and Sandra Sallee's home at 125 South 6th Street, St. Helens, Oregon.
