McCONNELL Lt. Col. Ret. Clyde F. "Mac" McConnell, 87, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010. He was born in Clay County, MO, to Clyde Samuel McConnell and Inis Elizabeth (O'Neil) McConnell. He attended Della Salle High School. He joined the United States Air Force where he was a Senior Command Pilot, serving in World War II. He was a member of the Elite 8th Photo Recon Pilots, 8 Ball squadron and participated in the annual reunions. Following his Air Force retirement in 1965, he sold heavy machinery equipment retiring from Pettibone Corporation in 1980.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Virginia; daughter Ginny Ann; parents Clyde McConnell and Inis McConnell; sisters, Kathryn Racob, Frances Motter, Marie Neyman, Mary Jean Aufner, and Loretta Bradley. Surviving him are his children, Marilynn Ingels, Kathleen McConnell, Clyde McConnell, Jr., Jeanne (Paul) Tyson, Cynthia (Bill) Schultz, Keith (Alanna) McConnell, Kevin (Mickey) McConnell, and Michael McConnell, along with 14 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren; brother Sam (Patty) McConnell, and sisters, Amy Jones and Regina Caldwell.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, March 11, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 4737 N Cleveland Ave., Kansas City, MO, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at McGilley Antioch Chapel, where the rosary will be prayed at 7p.m.
