Joseph loved to attend New Salem Baptist Church and was a member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He loved television and radio and was an avid sports fan enjoying teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and his favorite NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon.
In light of Joseph's love of sports, he got to meet and visit with former Redskins defensive back Mike Nelms who came to visit him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two brothers; Jeffrey Paul Dodson, Jr. and his wife, Ashley of Culpeper and Thomas Edward Dodson and his fiancé, Traci of Culpeper; maternal grandmother; Ruth Rowe; paternal aunts and uncles; Michael Edward Dodson and his wife, Liesa and Connie Kibler and her husband, David.
Additional survivors include his aunts and uncles; Richard McCoy, Jr., Johnny Roger McCoy, Theodore McCoy, Willard McCoy, Charlie Rowe, III, Rita Brown and Evelyn Brookes; his very special friend, Danielle Rollins; and numerous cousins and extended loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Lorraine Dodson; three uncles, Timothy Wayne Dodson, Jerry Rowe, Jeffrey Rowe; and one aunt, Mary Suttle; and his very special pet after 20 years, "Sammy".
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 6-8pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11 am at New Salem Baptist Church, 8233 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Michael Dodson officiating. Interment will follow in Etlan Cemetery.
