Tony Reavis
January 4, 1945 - August 1, 2013

Mr. Tony Reavis, age 68 of Jackson passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at his residence after a courageous fight with cancer.

Mr. Reavis was born in Meridian, Mississippi on January 4, 1945. He is preceded in death by his father, George Joseph Reavis.

Mr. Reavis retired in 2003 as a mechanic and truck driver with The Atlanta Journal and Constitution.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served from May 1963 until May 1969 during the Dominican Republic Uprising and Vietnam War, a member of the College Park Masonic Lodge #454. Mr. Reavis was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, Riverdale. He used his mechanic skills to help out people he loved and sometime even perfect strangers.

Mr. Reavis lived in Riverdale most of his life until retiring to Jackson, where he loved being in the country, gardening and sitting on his front porch.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jeanine Reavis; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Mickey Stephens, Sherrilon and Don Brooks; grandchildren, Heidi Stephens, Mick Stephens, Donnie Brooks; mother and stepfather, Hazel and Bob Lawrence; brothers and sister-in-law, George Reavis, Bruce and Mary Reavis; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Tony Reavis will be Friday, August 2, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 3, 2013at 11am in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Dr. Bill Brannon will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
