Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Drive, Wooster, with pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Burial will be in East Akron Cemetery, Akron.

She was born in Akron on June 2, 1952, and moved to Wooster from Akron in 1983. She attended the Nick Amster Workshop in Wooster.
Janet was known by everyone to have a sweet and innocent personality. Her favorite past time was swimming and shopping with Carole. She got to spend quality time using "Face Time" on the iPad with her niece, Lois in Texas.
Surviving are her "best brother," David Atkins of Arbovale, W.Va., and another brother, Carl Atkins of North Carolina; seven nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and nephews; her guardian/ caretaker and "second mother," Carole Van Pelt of Wooster, whom she loved dearly; and many other friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Diana Moreland; and a sister-in-law, Clara Atkins.
