Teresa Diane Hicks, 67, of Mulberry, traded a body broken by cancer for a glorious new beginning on July 31, 2013. She passed peacefully at home in the arms of the people who love her beyond measure.

Born October 26, 1945, in Muncie, IN, Teresa was the daughter of Carl L. and Vada L. (Clemmens) Schoeff. Teresa was a proud Bearcat, and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1963. She married the love of her life, "the best husband she could ask for," JC Hicks on December 17, 1965 at 10:30 p.m. after bowling league.

Teresa lived her life in service to the Lord, her community, and her family. She worked at the Mulberry Lutheran Home and Dayton United Methodist Church. She loved reading and swapping books with friends, crossword puzzles, and her favorite shows, Duck Dynasty, Say Yes to the Dress, and Chopped. She enjoyed staying up into the wee hours of the morning telling stories, and sharing memories of the incredible journey that was her life, and beating everyone who dared challenge her in Scrabble. She was an incredible blessing of a wife, mother, grandmother, "Nana", sister, and friend, and her kind spirit brought joy and laughter to everyone she met.

Teresa was reunited with her beloved daughter, Carla Yvonne (Hicks) Suter, her parents, and her brother, Carl Eugene Schoeff, who passed on before her. Her life and memories are celebrated and cherished by her loving husband, JC Hicks; three granddaughters, Amie (Shadi) Mullikin Bashir, Amanda Suter, and Amity Suter; one great granddaughter, Maya Bashir; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Schoeff and Judy Lykins; and two brothers-in-law, Ray Hicks and Darl (Carol) Hicks.

Visitation for Teresa will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dwight Johns officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry.
