Frank Martinek died at the age of 75, He was the husband of Victorine "Griffith" Marinek b in MD- May 19, 1896 - 10/7/1961, his Father was noted to have been from Czechoslovakia and Mother from Austria. Frank was the creator of "Don Winslow of the Navy", a comic strip which appeared in more than 200 newspapers, including The Tribune. Funeral services were held in Tucson Arizona where he died. He was an employee of the Standard Oil Co (Indiana) for 35 years until he retired in 1960. He had also been a lieutenant commander in the Navy and a reporter for The Tribune. His comic strip was serialized on the radio and television stations and was turned into 16 novels for teenagers.
