Services for Mrs. Vickie A. Antley, age 72, of Downsville were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. Visitation was held at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until time of service Saturday. Officiating was Bro. Jerry Chapman, Bro. Tuck Roberts and Bro. Robbie Robinson. Burial followed at Mt. Ararat Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Vickie was born on July 12, 1941 and resided in Downsville until she left peacefully to be with the Lord on August 1, 2013 due to a lengthy battle with cancer.

Vickie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church of Downsville. As a retired school teacher, Vickie was well-known and respected throughout her career. She was a caring and reliable member of her community and dearly loved by all who knew her. Vickie loved spending time participating in church activities, taking trips with her sisters, and cooking dinner every Sunday for her family.

Vickie is survived by her husband of 53 years, four children, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and four sisters. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, special friends, and her adoring pet, Rascal.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, J.V. and Nell Allen, and her brother, Jimmie Max Allen.
