Joseph E. "Joe" Barnes, formerly of Randolph, passed away Nov. 6, 2011, at home with his family at his side. He was 78. Born in Cambridge, he was a graduate of Northeastern University with a BA and M. Ed. He was a teacher at Walpole High School for over 25 years. Joe was a Korean War era Air Force veteran and a proud member of the American Legion Post 40, a life member of the Randolph Elks Lodge and was a retired member of the Savin Hill Yacht Club. He is survived by his wife, Linda Baynes Barnes; his daughter, Joanne Marie Barnes and husband Stephen Martin; his son, Joseph Martin Barnes and partner Charles Marram; and his grandson, Sean Michael Prentis. He was the husband of the late Ann Gavin Barnes. He will be greatly missed by his family, numerous friends and the community of South Meadow Village. A memorial service will be held at the South Meadow Village Clubhouse, 36-10 Village Way, Carver, Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011. There will be calling hours from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., followed by the memorial service and coalition. Funeral arrangements are provided by the Shepherd Funeral Home, Carver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 434 Rte. 134, Suite D3, South Dennis, MA 02660, or Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360
