Neil T. Davis, age 85, of Livingston, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville.

He was born on October 26, 1926 in Dodgeville, the son of Everett and Mina (Harris) Davis. Neil was united in marriage to Betty Sandeen on September 15, 1951 in Hector, Minnesota. Neil was engaged in farming his entire life. He loved working the hard and long hours of a farmer and being able to be outdoors. He took pride in being a farmer and it showed with the beauty of his farm in rural Livingston. Through the years Neil also became a McNess dealer for the area, selling feed products. Neil continued farming after moving to Livingston in 1981 until selling the farm in 1991.

Neil was a simple man who enjoyed people, going dancing with his wife, and loved doing special favors for friends and family. He also enjoyed sharing his garden and berries with everyone. Neil was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years, the Eastern Star, and also of the Rewey United Methodist Church, where he held numerous church positions. His gentle heart and kindness will be deeply missed by everyone.

Neil is survived by his four children and their families: son, John (Ann) Davis of Joliet, Illinois and their family, Mark (Debbie), Emily and Valerie Davis and Matthew (Katie) Davis; daughter, Catherine (Greg) Kohlenberg of Mitchell, South Dakota and their family, Brian (Rachel), Karter and Markie Kohlenberg, Scott (Nora) and Amber Kohlenberg, Rebecca (Jason), Logan and Brynn Warner; son, James (Theresa) Davis of Montfort and their family, Andrew (Rita) Davis and Juanita Davis; and daughter, Barbara (Corey) Christenson of Cashton and their family, Shandra Christenson, Janessa (Christopher) and Hunter Anderson, Jordan (Kassandra) Christenson, Kelsey (fiancé Andrew Eyers) Christenson and Darcy Christenson; and brother and sisters-in-law, Robert (Carrol) Sandeen of Bellingham, Washington and Doris Davis of Platteville. Neil was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Davis on February 27, 2006 and three brothers, Wayne and twins Dale and Dean Davis.

A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m.. on Saturday, January 28at the Rewey United Methodist Church in Rewey, with burial in the Rock Church Cemetery, rural Livingston. Pastor Peter Berg officiated. Friends called from 4-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort, where a Masonic service was held at 8:00 p.m. Friday. Friends also called from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church Saturday. The Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort assisted the family.
