Mrs. Archibald was born on October 2, 1918, and grew up in Wareham and Boston before joining the US Army Nursing Corp in 1945. She was assigned to Cushing hospital where she met her husband. She was later assigned to Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. As a 1ST Lieutenant, she was a nurse to General John, "Black Jack" Pershing. She and Dave eventually settled in Millis and raised their family. She pursued her love for nursing at various hospitals, the VNA, and private duty nursing, retiring to Centerville in 1978. She spent her life caring for her family and being "Grammie." In 2002, she moved to Waxhaw, N.C., and lived with her son. She was predeceased by her husband, David, and her daughter, Donna. She is survived by her son, David B. Archibald Jr., and his wife Cathy of North Carolina, and her son, Robert T. Archibald, and his wife Christine, of Marstons Mills. She had ten grandchildren, Rebecca, Heather, Daniel, Wendy, Katie, Stephen, Robbie, Andrew, Julie, and Heidi, and nine great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday in John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills. Service and burial at the National Cemetery will be private.
