Betty Jean Hoffman, age 88, of Bloomington passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Lancaster Care Center.

Betty was born on May 13, 1925, the daughter of Grant and Margaret (Ertz) Bennett. She was married to Clinton Snider on August 26, 1943, who preceded her in death in 1984. She then married Clarence Hoffman on November 5, 1985, who preceded her in death in 1998.

She was a member of St. Marys Church, Bloomington, and the Catholic Daughters. Betty worked at Rapid Dye in Cassville and was a cook at St. Marys School for many years. She was an avid sports fan, and loved to play cards and spend time with her family and friends.

She farmed with her husband Clinton in Beetown Township. They raised three sons: Ronnie (Linda Bown), Cassville, Larry (Ginny Mumm), Lancaster, and Cal (Linda Schildgen), Lancaster. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; three brothers, Virgil Bennett, Lancaster, Harold Bennett, Lakewood, CO, and Joe (Cory) Bennett, Moorhead, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Sr. Dorothy Bennett; her brother, Bob Bennett; her sisters-in-law, Irene Bennett, Ruth Bennett, Sophie Bennett, Geneva Bennett and Iva Bennett; and her sister- and brother-in-law, Bae and Catherine Dixon.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington, with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Bloomington, assisted the family.
