Roger Riddle, 64, of Austinville, Pa., passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, July 30, 2013.

Born on Jan. 13, 1949, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Roger was a son of the late Tracy and Birtie Mae (McBride) Riddle. He was affectionately known as "Ram Jet," "Roger Dodger" or "Rog" by his family and many friends. On Oct. 25, 1969, he married the former Sandra Swaine in Farmingdale, N.Y. Roger was a self-employed business owner for many years in Long Island, operating a landscaping operation and later an auto repair shop.

Family was most important in Roger's life. He will be remembered as a very loving, caring person who would offer his help to anyone in need. He was of the Catholic faith. Roger also loved the great outdoors, especially camping. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, horseracing and football.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years, Sandra, at home; six children, Denise Riddle of Austinville, Roger (Becky) Riddle of Troy, Michael Riddle of Columbia Cross Roads, Diana Riddle and her fiance Hal Eighmey, who to Roger was another son, both of Austinville, Rosemarie (Willem) DeJong of South Carolina and Tabatha (Greg) Coultler of Austinville; 18 cherished grandchildren; four siblings, Tracy Riddle and Rose Smith both of Elmira, Allen Riddle of Mastic Beach, N.Y., and Jimmy (Mary) Riddle of Watkins Glen, N.Y.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Dorothy Swaine.

A memorial service to celebrate Roger's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. Burial will be private by his family. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may consider a memorial in his name to Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Road, Towanda, PA 18848, or to Guthrie Clinic's Cancer Ward, One Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840.
