Private Charles C. Avery was a member of the 1st Maine Calvary, Co L, and was discharged for disability 12 March 1862. Charles reenlisted and was a Corp. in the 28th Maine Infantry, Co B, in Warrenton,Florida. He became ill in Florida and left on 22 March 1863 to return to his home in Maine. Sadly, Charles only made it to Boston and died there before reaching home on 21 October 1863.
