Arlene was born July 27, 1922 in rural Elk Horn, Iowa, and the thirteenth child of Danish immigrants. She was very proud of her Danish heritage. Arlene was raised on the farm and graduated from high school in 1940. She worked as a nanny and during the war she worked in an airplane factory. Arlene married Alvin Madsen in 1942 and they had four children. Her greatest joy was her family and the many family gatherings. She was a long time member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church.
Arlene always enjoyed being a homemaker. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother as well as a good friend.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Alan); son, Dean (Deb); eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; daughter, Lynda; son, Mark; parents and twelve siblings.
