Harry was the son of Hiram Shook and Candace Spencer. He married Emma Christensen on December 23, 1908 in Newell, IA. They were the parents of Ernest, Gladys, Darrel, and Marjorie.

Oct 23, 1958 - Newell Mirror - Mr Harry Shook, a former Newell resident, passed away at the Spencer hospital October 16 after a short illness followed by surgery. He was
born in Newell township to Hiram Shook and Candace Spencer Shook June 21, 1881.

He lived in the Newell community until 1920, when he moved to a farm near Gruver, Iowa. For the past eighteen years he had lived in Spencer. He was married to Emma Christensen of Newell in 1909 and to this union were born four children, Ernest of Burlington, Wis.; Gladys (Mrs Chas. Carey) of Sacramento, Calif; Darrel, deceased; and Marjorie (Mrs Carl Abel of Greenville.

He is also survived by a sister, Mrs R.B. Galbraith of Newell; two brothers Ralph of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Lloyd of Santa Ana, Calif, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, his mother and father and one brother. He was a member of the Methodist church and IOOF Lodge. Services were held in Spencer October 18 and burial was in Newell cemetery.
