MISHAWAKA - Dennis Lee Burgess, age 57, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, July 29, 2013. Denny was born March 30, 1956, in Mishawaka, IN, to the late Joe and Frances (Hartman) Burgess. Denny was employed for over 27 years at Plumrose Meats in Elkhart where he was the plant superintendent.

Surviving are his children, Brent M. (Erin) Burgess of Edwardsburg, Michigan, and Andrea Leigh Burgess of Mishawaka. Denny is also survived by his grandsons, Brayden and Jacob Burgess, as well as his longtime companion, Angel Howell. Surviving as well are his siblings, Sue (Bill) White of Mishawaka, Roy (Chris) Cripe of Osceola, Jerry (Lou) Burgess of Michigan City and John (Sue) Burgess of Vandalia, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Burgess.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Friday, August 2, 2013, at Chapel Hill, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Denny enjoyed spending time fishing with his son, grandsons and many friends. He also loved watching his grandson Brayden's baseball games, watching cooking shows, and his four dogs. Denny was also an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and drag racing. In his memory, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for diabetes.
