Capt. Sparrel Flemming Simmons also passed away Thursday at 2:16 a.m., after a long illness, aged 78. Whilst a native of Franklin county, he had spent the largest part of his life In Roanoke county, where he had been a successful farmer and buslness man. Deceased leaves a widow and three daughters. Mrs. Dr. Gale, Mrs. McClung and Mrs. A. Starkey. The funeral servlces will take place at the Lutheran Church this afternoon at 4 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. Dr. L. G. M. Mlller, of Roanoke, assisted by Rev. C. A. Miller, of Salem. The pall bearers, who are requested to meet at the residence at 3:45 p.m., are as follows: Actlve, Dr. J. D. Dreher, Dr. Painter. Capt. J. C. Langhorne, Col. D. C. Shanks, and Messrs. F. H. Chalmers, W. H. Ruthrauff, J. P. Houtz and T. J . Sblckel; honorary, Col. G. W. Hansbrough, Dr. S. C. Wells. Col. C. W. Burwell, and Messrs. D. B. Streuse, James Chalmers. Jr., W. F. Allemong. H. S. Trout and P. L. Terry.
