Retired from Allen Chevrolet as an automobile mechanic and a resident of Denham Springs, he died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Summit Hospital, Baton Rouge. He was 88 and a native of Silver Creek, Miss. Visiting was at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from noon until religious services at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Don Gauthier and Dr. Brad Curry. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Minnie Lessie Noble Hartzog, Denham Springs; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Bargas and Minnie and Harlan Jeane, all of Denham Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, William W. and Frances B. Hartzog, Denham Springs; three sisters, Sarah Garner, Carson, Miss., Bertha Thornton, Jackson, Miss., and Eva Dale Steen, Star, Miss.; a brother, Alvin Wylie Hartzog, Ridgeland, Miss.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Virgil Wayne Hartzog; parents, Victor Hugo and Inez Lydia Hartzog; six brothers, Charles David, Curtis Ellis, Victor Wilson, James Richmond, George Phillips and Thomas Earl Hartzog; and a sister, Dama Ruth Alford. Pallbearers will be Michael Hartzog, Patrick Jeane, Venton Bargas, James Day, Brian Hall and Bruce Turchiarelli. He was a member of Don Avenue Baptist Church, Denham Springs.
