Carl E. Hopkins, 76, of Pottsville, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center.

He was the husband of Joan M. Ryder Hopkins of Pottsville and the late Linda June Blair Hopkins who died in 2007. Born in Pottsville on July 4, 1938, he was the son of the late Clarence and Catherine Hillman Hopkins.

He retired from the Schuylkill Community Action office where he had worked as a clerk. Carl was best known for his guitar playing and also playing on the Willie Whistle Show. He and his former wife also travelled extensively sharing their musical talents.
Carl also served in the US Army.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Kirk A. Hopkins of Pottsville; a niece Susie Slackus of St. Claire; sisters Anna Mae and Dolly and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Hopkins.

Graveside services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 10 AM at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery
