David Lyles Cardwell, Senior, "Spud", died Friday, January 4, 2008 at Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on May 5, 1928 in Concord, to the late Lawrence and Lelia Cardwell.
David is survived by his wife, Carrie Shepherd Cardwell; one daughter, Carrie C. Warrick "Miki" of Richmond; two sons, David L. Cardwell, Jr. and Dennis A. Cardwell of Lynchburg; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Frances Bernice Cardwell of Lynchburg and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Greater Peaceful Zion Baptist Church with Reverend William Johnson, eulogist. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery. The family is receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence, 812 Buchanan Street. The cortege will assemble at the church.
