Thelma R. Cox, 102, of Hundred, died Jan. 10, 2018 in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born Dec. 28, 1915 at Farmington, a daughter of the late Grover Leo Morgan and Hazel Brand Morgan.

Mrs. Cox was a retired teacher who retired from the Wetzel County Board of Education. She last taught at Hundred High School. She was a member of the Wetzel County Retired Teachers Association.

She was a member of the Augusta Chapter #6 Order of the Eastern Star of Mannington. She had served as a past matron of the former Littleton Chapter #117 of Order of the Eastern Star.

Thelma was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church of Burton where she served as a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent.

Surviving are one son, Henry "Hank" Cox and his wife Evelyn of Crown Point, Indiana; two step-grandchildren, Wendy Long and Jimmy Wysong; and one step-great-grandchild, Lindsey Long.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Cox who died on May 19, 1995, to whom she was married on Feb. 26, 1942; one daughter, Joyce Wysong; and one sister, Maxine Pruitte.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastors Linda Roberts and Jason Sleeth officiating. Interment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Gardens at Burton.
