Mrs. Rogers was a charter member of the Buena Vista Rebecca Lodge 258 and the members attended the services in a body and had charge of the services at the grave.

Obituary - Elizabeth Barr Rogers was born at Bollina, Ireland November 1, 1854 and came to Manchester, Iowa with her parents and their family in 1864. The trip was made in one of the first steamships from Londonderry to New York to East Dubuque, Illinois where the entire train was ferried across the Mississippi River.

The family resided on a farm north of Manchester, Iowa and Mrs. Roger's attended school and grew to womanhood. In the fall of 1880 she visited her brothers, James and William, who were farming south of Newell. While here she met Harrison Rogers and in February, 1881 they were married at Manchester and started farming five miles south of Newell. Indians were living in the Sac Woods at that time and frequented the neighborhood.

Mr. and Mrs. Rogers had two sons Curtis and Ross while living on the farm. After ten years of farm life they moved to Newell in 1891 and the third son, Orville was born in
1897. The two eldest sons studied medicine and practiced in Rockford, Illinois.

Ross died in 1923 and Curtis in 1932. Mr Rogers also passed away in 1923.

Upon the death of Curtis Rogers wife Florence, their two sons, Curtis Jr. age five and Daniel age three, came to live with their grandparents. Mrs. Rogers gave her grandsons the same loving care as her own boys. Mrs Rogers was a charter member of the Rebecca Lodge and a member of the Congregational Church of Newell. For many years she was active in the Ladies Aid of the Church. She loved to work in her garden and with her chickens and spent hours working out of doors until this summer when she became ill.

She departed this life at her home in Newell on October 8, 1943 at the age of eighty eight years, eleven months, and eight days.

She is survived by her son Orville of Newell; two grandsons, Curtis Jr., now in the United States Navy; and Daniel of Newell; one great grandson, Richard Ross Rogers age ten; two brothers, John and George Barr of Manchester; one sister, Jennie Russell of Manchester; and a great host of friends.
