Joseph Ganninger, 76, 109 S. 4th St., died at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday at Mercy Hospital where he had been taken Monday following a stroke.
Services are pending at Avey Funeral Home.
Mr. Ganninger was born at St. Jacob, Ill., Nov. 19, 1886 to John and Theresa (Bender) Ganninger and came to Marshalltown April 12, 1912. He was married to Laura Winterowd Aug.22, 1914 in Waterloo, Iowa.
He was employed by the Gregory Coal, Coke and Lime Co. for 20 years and at Fisher Governor Co. for 10 years. He belonged to St. Mary's Church and was a 49 year member of Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include the widow and a sister Mrs. John Reese, Collinsville, Ill. Four sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
