Rodney Lynn Goodman 54, formerly of Sabetha, died unexpectedly Monday morning, July 29, 2013, at the apartment of his friend in Hiawatha.

He was born at Sabetha, November 4, 1958, one of six children born to Albert and Evelyn Middendorf Goodman and had lived in the Sabetha-Hiawatha area nearly all of his life. He grew up on the family farm near Sabetha and graduated from Sabetha High School with the class of 1977. He managed Roach Hardware in Topeka a number of years prior to working at the Golden Eagle Casino at Horton. Rodney worked various jobs in the area before going on disability.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Holton. He loved his family, especially the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren.

Survivors include a son Zack (Laura) Goodman of Hiawatha; a daughter Jessica (Ken) Trundle of Hiawatha; his mother Evelyn Goodman of Sabetha; three brothers: Curtis Goodman of Wetmore, Steven Goodman of Fairview, Kevin Goodman of Sabetha; two sisters: Ellen Garman of Greeley, Colorado, Beth Erwin of Olathe; and nine grandchildren. His girlfriend Tammy Clements of Hiawatha, also survives.

He was preceded in death by his father Albert.

It was his wish to be cremated with graveside memorial services to be held at a later date at Albany Cemetery.
