WEST JORDAN - Earl Preston Bateman, age 89, died November 4, 1992 in a Payson hospital.

Born November 25, 1902 in West Jordan, Utah to James Alfonzo and Parylee Pixton Bateman. He married Myrtle Hogan in the Salt Lake LDS Temple February 14, 1923, she preceded him in death January 21, 1984. Earl was a lifelong dairy farmer, member of the LDS Church, former employee of the West Jordan Sugar Factory and Board of Directors member for the Utah Lake Distributing Company. He participated in and loved the art of Horse Pulling, thoroughly enjoyed the Utah Jazz but his greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren.

Survivors: children, Wayne C. and wife, Colleen, Elberta, Norma Joyce Harding and husband Reed V., Boutniful, Earl Ray and wife Mary, Chandler, Arizona, Leola B. Durrant, American Fork, 17 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, sisters, Edna Cockayne, Nora Renshaw, Edith Stoker, all Salt Lake City.

Funeral services Saturday, November 7, 1992, 11 a.m. in the Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where friends may call Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to time of services.

Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
