He retired as a quality controller for General Motors in 1987 after 37 years of service. He also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Anderson First Church of the Nazarene for 58 years. He was involved in many different aspects with the church. He was a volunteer at the Harter House, and at Daybreak.. He enjoyed wood carving, crossword puzzles, and especially music.
Byron is survived by his loving spouse whom he married on Dec. 5, 1954, Marilyn Y. (Reeves) Wright of Anderson; son, Bruce K. Wright of Pendleton; son, Brian L. (Robin) Wright of Jackson, Tenn.; daughter, Sharilyn E. (Richard) DeCrastos of Fishers; son, Brad L. (Kathy) Wright of Fresno, Calif.; and son, Bart M. (Sarah) Wright of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Emily, Kiel, Aaron, Allison, Aubrey, Rick, Landon, Jessica, Carly, Madison, Morgan and James; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Wright; sisters, Betty Delph, Imogene Collier, Janet Ramsay and Beverly Messick; and several nieces and nephews survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, and one hour before the service at the church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Anderson First Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Gary Cable and Gary Klinger officiating. Burial will take place in McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson.
