George Marcus "Jim" Sutton, age 80, died December 8, 2011 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.

He was born December 24, 1930 in Matthews, son of the late Clarence Cecil and Lorene Grace (Reed) Sutton.

Mr. Sutton lived at Matthews his entire life, was a member of Matthews Missionary Baptist Church and had been a farmer before retiring.

On May 14, 1949 at Matthews, he married Margaret Sue Cloys; she survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Marcus Hammond Sutton of Matthews and Earnest Thomas Sutton of Morehouse; three daughters, Margie Lorene Maddox and Mary Elizabeth Pearson both of Sikeston and Pamela Joan Hurd of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Lyla Mae & Cecil Beeson; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Dan Wisely, pastor of Kewanee Missionary Baptist Church, and Bro. Chris Polk, pastor of Matthews Missionary Baptist Church, will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
