Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Wednesday, May 27, 1970, page 3:
  Charles Deppe, 79, of 225 W. Fourth St., died unexpectedly in his home at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday.
  He had been a laborer with Local 179 for 14 years, retiring in 1955.
  Born Nov. 5, 1890, in Uniontown, Pa., he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry [Mary Linderg] Deppe.
  He was married to Katherine Ross in Smithton. She survives.
  Other survivors include a son, Walter C. Deppe of Edwardsville; three brothers, William Deppe of Oak Creek, Colo., Frank Deppe and Emil Deppe, both of Belleville; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Furtkamp of Staunton.
  Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death [August, Henry, Edna].
  Friends may call at the Lesley Marks Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.
  Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, the Rev. William J. Stanley of St. Boniface Catholic Church officiating.
  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Clarence Moore, Sidney Pilkerton, Olin Schwalb, Ace Browning, James N. Owens, and Walter Macdonald.
